About

Welcome to Le Grand Fromage! I'm Brie....hence the blog name.

In 2006, I decided to change my diet to organic foods. I was fed up with the onslaught of chemicals showing up in everything I ate. I had been unable to eat red meat since I was a child, as it gave me a terrible stomach ache. I could taste the chemical residue in fruits and vegetables, as they lacked any nutrition or flavor otherwise. Several of my family members had been diagnosed with various food allergies and autoimmune disorders, and I did not want to be next. I knew it was time for a change.

As I studied nutrition over the years, from influences like the Weston A. Price Foundation and experts like Sally Fallon, I realized just how misinformed we are about food. It made me appreciate my Cherokee roots and inspired me to return to traditional foods - when traditional, organic foods were just "food". I want to be part of the grassroots movement to inspire others to return to traditional foods and force the synthetic, chemical laden food-like creations that are making people sick to be those with the labels.

This food blogging journey began in the summer of 2009. I hope that the research and recipes I share inspire you to go traditional. By taking small steps, you can transform your kitchen and nourish your body - it is possible to take control of your nutritional health! I want people to know it's their responsibility to eat healthy and not rely solely on the modern food industry to keep you healthy. Their business is to make healthy profits - not healthy people.

Food can work miracles, but not immortality. Eating traditional foods is not about deprivation, but freedom and enjoyment. Freedom from often preventable health consequences and enjoyment of foods you love.
